Die Stoep Calitzdorp

17 Andries Pretorius Street

Die Stoep offers Klein Karoo Self Catering Accommodation.

Die Stoep is a beautiful Karoo style farmhouse built with Victorian detail around 1860 and was one of the first houses in Calitzdorp. It is rented out as a self-catering unit and sleeps up to 8 people (clients do not share the facilities with other people and the house is rented as a unit).

Die Stoep, as the name suggest has a large wrap around veranda with doors opening out onto it. Oregon pine floors and sash windows with shutters give this house a special feel of days gone by. The ceilings are 4m high and the walls half a meter thick and were constructed out of unfired mud bricks. This building style was typical of the period and the result is a house that is cool in the hot summer months and warm in winter. The shutters are still used to regulate the indoor temperature.

The lounge features a fireplace, TV and hi-fi. A door leads onto the veranda. The typical farmhouse kitchen has a cozy seating area. It is equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave, coffee machine, steamer, dishwasher and a washing machine. It is fully equipped with cutlery, crockery and glassware. As well as braai grid, tongs and potjie pots.

The courtyard is accessed from the kitchen on the one side and the bar on the other. It is fully enclosed by a high wall. Here the beautiful star filled night sky can be enjoyed from the built-in seating area, with a fire pit. There is an undercover braai and entertainment area.

A small splash pool is situated amongst the succulents next to the star gazing area in the garden - the perfect place to cool off with a sundowner.

There are 3 bedrooms: Percale linen, and bath towels are supplied.
o Ostrich room – The main bedroom is large and has a king size bed as well as a bunk bed, cupboard and a dresser.
o Springbok room – has a double bed and en-suite with shower, basin and toilet, this area leads through the bar into the courtyard. There is also a cupboard.
o Meerkat room – leads onto the wrap around stoep and has a double bed with en-suite bath, basin, shower and separate toilet and cupboard.
o There is also a separate, quaint bathroom with toilet, basin and shower over the vintage bath and old fashioned wall cabinet.
The large dining room is in the centre of the house and can seat 10, the perfect place to entertain.

Die Stoep also offers:
o Alarm system
o Off street parking
o Wi-Fi
o Pet friendly
o Netflix
o 2 plate gas cooker

The garden is large and planted up with fruit trees and succulents that are typical to the Klein Karoo.
